Manuela Karin Knaut

Traveling, exploring unknown terrain and thus inevitably leaving your own comfort zone. The chaotic and unordered life in the townships, which is so unusual for us Europeans, the daily mess in the streets of Johannesburg and this colorful, this diversity, but still positive energy in, for example, the narrow streets of Accra. The graffiti in Brooklyn USA. The brittle, the unplastered, the life and goings-on in all corners of the world.

All this charming, imperfect and makeshift-looking, fascinates this unique artist. This is what fascinates Manuela Karin Knaut. All of this can be found in your pictures.

Her unique pieces are colorful, harmonious and therefore in great demand worldwide, especially among American art collectors.

Within her pictures, the artist combines an enormous variety of materials in a very intrepid way and thus remains true to her working style, which is inspired by elements of the street art scene. She sticks scraps of paper, images, photographs, fabric elements or text parts onto her painting, ties, tears, staples, sews or pastes found things onto or into her pictorial worlds.

It applies, reduces, scratches, tears, rubs – no picture is treated like a raw egg. In Manuela Knaut’s spacious studio with an integrated printing workshop, things are sometimes chaotic and, in some respects, as lively as in the streets of Johannesburg, New York or Havana. The exploration and combination of painting and material inevitably leads to an exciting journey of discovery into the playful, pleasurable, but above all energetic art world of Manuela Karin Knaut, which leaves plenty of room for your own stories and invites you to let your mind wander.
